There are so many benefits to learning a second language! American Sign Language (ASL) is a beautiful language that I think many should learn. Inspiring Handz, LLC has created an amazing set of alphabet flashcards that support your childās journey in learning ASL.Ā
My first thought when I took the box out of the packaging was melanin. These ABC Sign Language flashcards show beautiful brown hands on the box, and as a Mama of color, itās like they are inviting me in to enjoy this beautiful deck! Just when I thought I couldnāt get enough of the outside, once I opened the box I was in for a treat. Each card is beautifully illustrated with Black characters and relatable words. For example, A is for Africa, B is for Braids, and C is for Culture. Furthermore, the hand signs were illustrated appropriately and clearly. Your child will definitely be drawn to the colorful, bold illustrations on each card, just like my children were!

The flashcards themselves seem to be a regular, laminated cardstock, like the feel of playing cards. I tested the durability of the cards by trying to tear one of them, and it was pretty easy to tear. So, just like regular playing cards, you can expect some wear in the cards if they are used often by little hands. Also, the corners are rounded, which is perfect for younger children.Ā
